Kenji Williams Summer Wrapup, Video & News
My Goodness, - no newsletter for 7months... I haven't even had the time to write one amidst 3months touring in Europe & Egypt, Moving to New York City, a presentation at NASA, and then a 1month tour in Japan. Finally back and recovering, and able to put together photos & a nice video... below!

In front of the Pyramids of Egypt , as our own contribution to the Live Earth concert on July 7th, 2007.

June 23 - Live at Glastonbury Festival, UK
Together in knee-deep mud with around 250,000 jolly English music lovers, we performed on the Glade Stage - one of the best stages at the festival, uniquely mixing electronica and ethnic music. Despite the rain and mud, this was a highlight of my life, as it was the first time collaborating with my sister, Miyuki Williams, who, together with her partner Neil Mackie, founded and lead UK's first and only professional touring taiko drum group called Mugenkyo. (Limitless Reverberation in Japanese). They are based in Glasgow Scotland, and are constantly touring all of the UK, often covering Europe, Japan, and have collaborated with Japan's top taiko drumming group, Kodo. We spent weeks preparing a killer show, working with my wife, and dancer, Lâlë Sayoko, integrating dance forms from Geisha to Bellydance, and combining the powerful drums of Mugenkyo. What a dream come true!! Click to the right to see the 3 minute video from the show!

Egypt. Egypt left me speechless, and inspired. If humans from the mayans to egyptians can build such incredible things on opposite ends of the earth, we owe it to them to show the same will power as humans to do something that lasts for thousands of years into the future - I only hope that our generation will be thanked for taking action, and not looked upon with regret for not living up to our full potential. See photos on the left.

Greece.
Right after Egypt was a hop over to beautiful Limnos Island in Greece, for the magical Island of Fire Festival.

UK - Glade Festival
We performed at Glade Festival. Killer show, with an encore! Unfortunately no photos because it was the worst flooding in 200 years... bad weather, but hight spirits... Thank you Glade!!!!

August - September

We move to Manhattan, New York. This is a lot of work.

Then,... preparing for performing at NASA see below!
October 5th: NASA

Kenji Williams presents and performs at NASA Goddard.
Perhaps few of you know, but I have been working on a very large project the last couple years. Inspired by my trip to Russia in 2005 to experience a Soyuz rocket launch, I have been developing project GAIA, - a multifaceted media production that brings the transformative experience that astronauts have when viewing the Earth from Space to a broader terrestrial audience. NASA invited me to present the project with one of my producers, Alex Bowles, as well as inviting me to do a solo performance. With the success of the 'Gaia Journeys' full dome show in Denver earlier this year, and the further interest from NASA, this project is taking off, and will be going more public in the new year. There is nothing like a room full of real rocket scientists expressing such excitement; how they were so deeply moved by my audio visual show. You will no doubt be hearing more about this exciting and ambitious project! Special thanks to Carter Emmart for this! Click image to right for bigger flyer:
